Is God Love, Or Is Love God?1 min read

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Read the title one more time. There is an important distinction between the two.

Consider the inspired apostle John’s words:

Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. (1 John 4:8)

Most assume their concept of love is God. In other words, they ‘mold’ God to fit into their self-defined idea of love. When they do this, their worldly idea of love actually becomes their god. And when love becomes their god, love defines what is right and wrong, good and evil, holy and unholy.

Instead, we need to come to God and ask Him, “Who are YOU, the Great I AM, and how do YOU define love?”

If God is truly your God, you will allow Him to tell you Who He Is (and thus allow Him to define love).

If love is your god, you will inevitably define your god by your self-defined concept of love.

God is love. Love isn’t God.
